No. Bactorub Blue is formulated with skin emollients and protective agents that help maintain moisture and prevent dryness. Although it contains alcohol for rapid antimicrobial action, the added skin conditioners ensure that Bactorub Blue remains gentle and skin-friendly, even with frequent use.

2) Does Bactorub Blue meet international surgical hand preparation standards?

Yes. Bactorub Blue complies with EN 12791, the recognised European standard for surgical hand disinfection. This confirms that Bactorub Blue effectively reduces resident skin flora required for surgical procedures. For surgical hand preparation, approximately 3 ml twice for 1.5 min., covering hands and forearms up to the elbows.

3) Can Bactorub Blue be used for pre-injection skin antisepsis?

Yes. Bactorub Blue can be used for skin antisepsis on intact skin, including peri-operative or pre-injection preparation. Apply Bactorub Blue to the required area and allow it to dry for at least 30 seconds before an injection or incision to ensure proper disinfection.

4) When should you use Bactorub® Blue?

Bactorub Blue can be used in a wide range of environments where hand hygiene is essential.
Inside healthcare settings:
Disinfect hands with Bactorub Blue according to WHO’s Five Moments of Hand Hygiene, in both critical and non-critical areas.
Outside healthcare settings:
Bactorub Blue can also be used while travelling, in crowded places, after touching frequently handled surfaces, when using public transport, or after contact with potentially infected individuals when hands are not visibly soiled.

5) What is the shelf life and storage requirement for Bactorub Blue 5 L containers?

Bactorub Blue is formulated for stability and bulk healthcare use. It should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, as alcohol-based products are flammable and may evaporate if not properly sealed. When stored correctly, Bactorub Blue typically remains stable for 2–3 years, although the exact expiry date should always be confirmed using the batch information on the container.
