Advanced Surface Disinfectant with Integrated Corrosion Inhibitors for Medical Equipment Protection

The Clinical Advantage:
Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is Bacillocid® Special a concentrate or a ready-to-use product?
Bacillocid® Special is supplied as a concentrated formulation that must be diluted with water before use. The recommended dilution should be prepared according to Raman & Weil’s dilution chart and the specific risk area of the hospital to ensure effective surface and environmental disinfection.
2) Should a higher concentration of Bacillocid® Special be used for better results?
No. For optimal performance, Bacillocid® Special should always be diluted according to the recommended guidelines provided in Raman & Weil’s product literature. Using higher concentrations than advised does not improve efficacy and may affect material compatibility, even though the formulation contains corrosion inhibitors to help protect treated surfaces.
3) What makes Bacillocid® Special an ideal choice for surface disinfection?
Bacillocid® Special is widely used for surface disinfection due to several key advantages:
Dual action of cleaning and disinfection, helping remove contaminants while eliminating pathogens
Compliance with relevant European EN norms for disinfectant efficacy
Short contact time, enabling efficient infection control procedures
Effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms, including Clostridium difficile spores, bacteria (including mycobacteria), yeast, fungi, and both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses
Formulated with corrosion inhibitors, which help protect treated surfaces and medical equipment from chemical damage during repeated disinfection
4) Why are corrosion inhibitors important in surface disinfectants?
In healthcare and laboratory environments, equipment is often made from stainless steel, aluminium, or chrome. Continuous exposure to disinfectants and moisture can lead to oxidation and surface degradation. The inclusion of corrosion inhibitors in disinfectant formulations helps create a protective barrier on surfaces, preventing chemical wear and helping maintain the durability of medical infrastructure.
5) Can disinfectants with corrosion inhibitors be used on sensitive metal surfaces?
Yes. Surface disinfectants that contain high-quality corrosion inhibitors are designed to be material-compatible with a wide range of non-porous surfaces, including metal fixtures, surgical tables, and diagnostic equipment. These inhibitors help prevent discolouration, pitting, or structural degradation, ensuring that repeated cleaning and disinfection do not damage sensitive surfaces.
