The Clinical Advantage:
Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can Bactoscrub be used as a pre-operative skin preparation for patients?
Yes. Bactoscrub is widely used as a pre-surgical body wash to reduce microbial load on a patient’s skin before surgery.
Decolonising the skin with a 4% CHG solution like Bactoscrub is a standard medical protocol that helps minimise the risk of Surgical Site Infections (SSIs).
2) Is Bactoscrub safe for sensitive skin or frequent daily use?
Although Bactoscrub is a potent medical-grade antiseptic wash, it is formulated with integrated emollients and moisturisers.
This allows healthcare professionals to use it for frequent hand decontamination throughout the day without excessive dryness or skin cracking.
3) How should Bactoscrub be used?
Bactoscrub is a CHG-based antiseptic solution suitable for hygienic hand washing, surgical hand preparation, and pre-operative patient bathing.
For routine hand hygiene and surgical preparation, use an adequate amount to ensure complete coverage of hands and forearms as per clinical protocols.
For pre- and post-surgical bathing, apply directly to the skin as per institutional guidelines and allow sufficient contact time before rinsing gently.
Avoid aggressive scrubbing or using regular soap immediately after application. After rinsing, pat dry with a clean towel and ensure clean garments are used.
4) Is Bactoscrub effective against fungi and yeasts?
Yes. Bactoscrub has strong fungicidal properties and is effective against common yeasts and fungi, including Candida albicans.
This makes it a versatile antiseptic wash for maintaining comprehensive skin hygiene in healthcare environments.
5) How does Bactoscrub differ from standard antibacterial liquid soaps?
Unlike regular antibacterial soaps that may contain triclosan or PCMX, Bactoscrub uses 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG), considered a gold standard antiseptic in clinical settings.
It not only removes dirt but also delivers rapid microbial action—eliminating up to 80% of bacteria within 30 seconds—while providing longer-lasting antimicrobial protection compared to regular soaps.
